The Role of Technology & Innovation In Managing Injury Risk

Day 2 Focus
The Role of Technology & Innovation In Managing Injury Risk

09.10 – 10.00
An Introduction To Injury Burden Across Elite Sports: How To Mitigate Injury Occurrence And Reduce The Economic & Performance Burden
Stephen Mutch, Senior Physio, Scottish Rugby Union

13.00 – 13.50
Biomechanical analysis in daily assessment routines – Possibilities of functional movement screening and online biofeedback training
Therapy success and performance in sports used to be measured just by quantity – higher, faster, farther. When it comes to achieving these goals, quality of movements becomes essential – coordination, symmetry, efficiency.
Therefore these categories have to be evaluated and controlled continuously, if not even become part of the everyday work of therapists and trainers.
Complex movement, EMG, pressure/force distribution and strength analyses used to be performed in biomechanical labs, far away from any sports field and everyday situations.
Furthermore the effort needed to produce this data has been way too big relative to the consequences and outcomes. Today the goal is to establish high-end biomechanics in real conditions and present results universally understandable.

This workshop addresses everybody from coaches to those involved in the medical departments as well as strength and conditioning. The goal is to get hands on the latest biomechanical high-end technology and work out methods of implementing them into assessment and biofeedback training routines.
