Chris Neville

Head of Athletic Performance, Blackburn Rovers FC

Initially trained in Sports Massage in 2001, Chris worked for West Bromwich Albion and Portsmouth Football Clubs. Following graduation in 2005, Chris assumed the role of Sports Scientist with Portsmouth FC dedicated to players returning to training following injury. In 2008, he joined EXOS (formally Athletes Performance) in Los Angeles as Performance Specialist, providing physical preparation support to LA Galaxy players and managing a team of nutrition and conditioning staff. Later in 2008, Chris returned to the UK and rejoined Portsmouth FC as Senior Strength and Conditioning Coach. In April 2012, he was asked to take up the role of Conditioning Coach to the England Men’s Senior Team at the European Championships in Poland and Ukraine. In January 2013, Chris joined Blackburn Rovers as Head of Sports Science overseeing the provision of sports science support services to the senior and U21 playing squads. Chris has provided conditioning support to the England team at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and 2016 European Championships in France. Chris is currently carrying out research into training session structure and periodisation in professional football in collaboration with Liverpool John Moore’s University
